Do you ever wonder about the wide pricing discrepancy between low-cost and expensive cleansers? Price doesn't determine everything and you certainly do not have to pay a king's ransom to buy good quality without having to pay for the ritzy advertising and packaging of the posh marketplace. Unless or course you want to.

Finding reasonably priced cosmetics and skincare products doesn't take more than being willing to do the research and investing the time to find the little gems that are there to discover. Every savvy shopper will tell you so.

But buying fake goods is another story altogether, especially when it comes to eyelash cleansers. 

Fact is, if you are using baby shampoo or cheap imports to clean your lashes you are not doing much for your eyelash investment.

Beautiful eyelash extensions have simplified your life, boosted your beauty routine into dash-and-go status and given you a touch of 24/7 glamour. That's all good.

Your job now is to maintain your lashes and keep them in good condition for longer.

That means taking good care of lash extensions. Much neglect comes from fear of damaging the adhesives. That's a mistake. The number one consideration should be proper daily cleaning.

Specialized lash cleansers are made so that they do not damage the adhesives but, at the same time clean away impurities. It is essential to do this as the natural function of lashes is to protect eyes from debris. Lash extensions do the same. Dirt, makeup, air pollutants must all be washed away in order for lashes to serve their purpose.

"But," you protest, "I'm not supposed to get my lashes wet."
Not so. That's only the first 24 hours. In order to maintain your lashes and avoid infections and other irritations lashes and lids have got to be cleaned.

Bacterial infections like Blepharitis cause inflammation along the lash line which can lead to loss of lashes as well as extensions, not to mention discomfort. Properly cleaned lashes and extensions will function properly and (magical drum roll, please) retain your extensions for longer. 

In fact, this is the key to retention. Longer periods between fills? Not to be sneezed at.

The catch is there are a bunch of cheap products out there that purport to be lash extension cleansers. Tons of them. 

They boast about being oil free, this, that or the other free. But unless they have an active ingredient like tea tree to eradicate Demodex mites, they are fake. That's why they are cheap and about as effective as whipped cream. Possibly harmless (please don't try whipped cream) but a wasted exercise and money down the drain. It's not just the cost of the products, remember, it's your lashes also. Your investment.

So, if your lash cleanser has everything in it bar the kitchen sink, but it doesn't have an ingredient like tea tree, it is a fake and the results will be fake as well.

You have been told that your soap and water, cold cream, facewash and cream-based cleansers are off limits. In fact, you have been warned that water during the first 24 hours is kryptonite, right?
And no, baby shampoo doesn’t cut it. In fact, even an alarming number of foam cleansers purportedly made for the job don’t do it either. They’re just....puff....nothing or worse leave you with dry, tight uncomfortable skin.
